Subcultures

Here is my entry for the "Subcultures" theme on the Bouldermedia Art Blog. This is a Brony. A subculture brought about by the fandom of the "My Little Pony" cartoon. Bronies are typically male 20 somethings....

Who said My Little Pony is just for the girls?!?!?!

Unicorn

Here's a little drawing Layla did for me over the weekend. She saw my little Unicorn I drew a while back and wanted to draw me her version of it. I prefer hers!

The Grand Total...

How about that. The grand total raised for the Animation Art Show was way above 2012's total. 12,500 euros raised for The Jack and Gill Foundation and LauraLynn House. Needless to say both charities were over the moon with the money raised and will go to helping out those families.

Nunu went to a wonderful little girl called Mia, who promised to look after him with lots of love and cuddles. She sent me this picture of him settling in in his new home hahahahahaha!!!
Roll on Next year!

Lucky Break!

A lovely lady from Damn Fine Print saw my piece from "The Art of Superstition" exhibition and mailed me about this upcoming event ran by Damn Fine Print, called "Sounds Damn Fine". Running of the success of last years Damn Fine Dublin exhibition they wanted to do it again to celebrate the unveiling of their brand new screenprinting studio in Smithfield.

 So I did a piece.
It had to be a two colour design, as the posters are going to be screenprinted, inspired by a song or lyric
And....

I got selected to be part of the exhibition. I couldn't really believe it. Never in an exhibition and then two in the matter of a couple of months. I can't really say how excited I am...but I am! I have to keep my piece under wraps until the teasers come out on the FB page. Top Secret you see. But they are putting new ones up every day. So do check em out.

If you would like to find out more about Damn Fine Print check out their Facebook Page here
It is going to be a very exciting event, with lots of Art and Music. So save the date and head along on the 5th of December.

The Copper House Gallery- The Art of Superstition

Here's a couple of snaps from the Art of Superstition exhibition I was part of. I was so happy to see what a beautiful job the framers did with my piece. It was a great night and the exhibition itself was full of super talented people that I was delighted to have shared the event with. The exhibition has been extended another couple of weeks due to popular demand and there are talks of it going on tour. Exciting!!!
Thanks to Illustrators Ireland, The Copper House Gallery, my Da, and all my Buddies for coming along to support me in my first ever exhibition.
You guys rock.

It is all for a fantastic cause. Lastyear we raised 8900 euro for Laura Lynn House and The Jack and Jill Foundation, both very deserving charities, so come along and see if you can grab yourselves an original piece of art for a great cause!!!

Mr Sweet Tooth

I did these up for a presentation my cousin's wife was doing on cleaning teeth. She didn't want the talk to be all writing and bullet points and be all boring so I drew these up for her. Mr Sweet Tooth teaching the kiddies what they need to brush their teeth.

Stay Puft

I did this up for the next Bouldermedia Artblog Theme. Pop over and have a look if you feel like a look at some of the other posts(they are really cool). What I had in my head and what I finished up with are quite different. I really need to work on my lighting and colour and composition.
Well everything really. But at least I managed to get something done.

*Sigh*

Final Life Drawing

Some sketches from our last life drawing class for a while.

Slow Loris

I was working on something for the Bouldermedia Artblog for the "Animal Behaviour" theme last month. I didn't manage to get it finish at all what with being busy with deadlines and that. Only got a sketch and a colour kinda key done. I do intend to finish this little guy with a nice background and lighting and stuff so when I do I'll pop it up.

Life Drawing...Blind

Back to life drawing after a good few weeks. This time we took a different approach to what we were doing and drew blind (looking only at the figure, not at the page and trusting yourself to do the rest) . The first one I found myself cheating quite alot and looking down to the page but these four I stayed from looking at my page so I popped thme up cause I think the finished pieces are kinda interesting. I learnt alot about my approach to drawing and how I observe...really enjoyed the class.

Stephen and Liz's Wedding

My little brother Stephen got married to the beautiful Liz at the weekend. As you can see they are pretty happy about the whole thing LOL. They asked me to do a characature of them both for the guest book. So here it is. I don't do this kinda thing that often cause I find it really hard to get likenesses but these two seemed to turn out okay. Well, the happy couple were happy with it so I am happy with it :) They are off now on Safari in South Africa...Lucky Duckers!

Life Drawing

I thought I would go a whole lot of different with some ink and water this life drawing class. Here are the originals, the ones on the right have a little bit a camera trickery to them. The drawings aren't great but I am going to stick with it and see what happens when I get a bit more familiar with the materials.
