Lokie

I got involved with an Artswap at Christmas. Were a number of artists, some I know others I didn't come together to literally swapart. Names are put into a hat and picked randomly. You make something for the person you get and the other secret person makes something for you. Nobody knows who got you or who you have so it is like one giant super surprise. This is my submission for a girl I work with. His name is Lokie and just went to his new home this morning....I hope she likes him!

Dr. Sketchy's-Michael Hussar Tribute

It was Dr.Sketchy's again on Saturday and the tribute was to Michael Hussar(above). I kinda went for something a little different and alot more graphic then I would normally. The sessions are really good fun, even if I do wish some of my artwork was abit better. But hopefully that will come in time.

Chrimbo

Just wanted to wish everyone a very Happy Christmas and New Year. This has been a particularly bad year for the amount of artwork I have posted on my blog so hopefully next year I'll be back with a bang with some really cool news on the new projects I'll be working on in 2015.
So on that note I wish you all well.

Dr. Sketchy's does Dr. Who?

Last weekend I went to my second Dr. Sketchy's life drawing class. The theme was Dr.Who which I have never really been a fan of or given much thought to. I didn't come out with too many great drawings but these I thought turned out interesting and it was really good for the drawing practice anyway. They are completely different from anything I have ever tried before in life drawing class and I really enjoy it so good times all round. Next theme is going to be Labyrinth....YES!

Little Me's

It's been a while since I posted to my blog. Work is crazy busy with the second season of Randy Cunningham so unfortunately I haven't had much time to do any personal work. So instead I have posted a little something that was sent to me the other morning. A young freelance illustrator called Dom "Scruffy" Murphy took it upon himself to do some little Gill's based on a sketch Jamie Teehan did of me a while back. Needless to say I was quite chuffed with the suprise.
I got my tattoo, my lipring, my beany's.....look, I even got a little Monster!!!!

Thank you Dom.
Love them.

Subcultures

Here is my entry for the "Subcultures" theme on the Bouldermedia Art Blog. This is a Brony. A subculture brought about by the fandom of the "My Little Pony" cartoon. Bronies are typically male 20 somethings....

Who said My Little Pony is just for the girls?!?!?!

Unicorn

Here's a little drawing Layla did for me over the weekend. She saw my little Unicorn I drew a while back and wanted to draw me her version of it. I prefer hers!

The Grand Total...

How about that. The grand total raised for the Animation Art Show was way above 2012's total. 12,500 euros raised for The Jack and Gill Foundation and LauraLynn House. Needless to say both charities were over the moon with the money raised and will go to helping out those families.

Nunu went to a wonderful little girl called Mia, who promised to look after him with lots of love and cuddles. She sent me this picture of him settling in in his new home hahahahahaha!!!
Roll on Next year!

Lucky Break!

A lovely lady from Damn Fine Print saw my piece from "The Art of Superstition" exhibition and mailed me about this upcoming event ran by Damn Fine Print, called "Sounds Damn Fine". Running of the success of last years Damn Fine Dublin exhibition they wanted to do it again to celebrate the unveiling of their brand new screenprinting studio in Smithfield.

 So I did a piece.
It had to be a two colour design, as the posters are going to be screenprinted, inspired by a song or lyric
And....

I got selected to be part of the exhibition. I couldn't really believe it. Never in an exhibition and then two in the matter of a couple of months. I can't really say how excited I am...but I am! I have to keep my piece under wraps until the teasers come out on the FB page. Top Secret you see. But they are putting new ones up every day. So do check em out.

If you would like to find out more about Damn Fine Print check out their Facebook Page here
It is going to be a very exciting event, with lots of Art and Music. So save the date and head along on the 5th of December.

The Copper House Gallery- The Art of Superstition

Here's a couple of snaps from the Art of Superstition exhibition I was part of. I was so happy to see what a beautiful job the framers did with my piece. It was a great night and the exhibition itself was full of super talented people that I was delighted to have shared the event with. The exhibition has been extended another couple of weeks due to popular demand and there are talks of it going on tour. Exciting!!!
Thanks to Illustrators Ireland, The Copper House Gallery, my Da, and all my Buddies for coming along to support me in my first ever exhibition.
You guys rock.

Mr Sweet Tooth

I did these up for a presentation my cousin's wife was doing on cleaning teeth. She didn't want the talk to be all writing and bullet points and be all boring so I drew these up for her. Mr Sweet Tooth teaching the kiddies what they need to brush their teeth.
