Haven't had much time to draw anything for the blog of late but at least this is something creative.

Wow it's been ages since I have posted anything decent!! Wrapping up on Gumball has taken most of my time. I am hopin that over the Christmas holidays I'll be able to catch up and get some bloggin goin again.

Halloween at Bouldermedia

I thought I would just stick some piccys up of lastweeks Halloween Fancy Dress in Boulder. People made such a brill effort with their costumes. There was a Satan, a Hobbit, a Giant Dracula Legoman, Robots, ComicBook Characters, a Clown, a few Wearwolves and manys an insect buzzin about.

The winner for best costume, Dracula LegoMan takes it all and well deserved ..... BORJA! BORJA! He made the whole thing from scratch with his bare hands.

Boulder V's Brown Bag

Well it all kicked off last Friday evening in UCD for the game of the year. Bouldermedia versus Brown Bag Films in a game of soccer. The atmosphere was excellent between Paddy's dodgy belly at lunch(nerves) and all the game tactics being discussed throughout Friday in work. Allan and Jamie mustn't have got any work done at all(he,he,he). I must admit I am no soccer fan but I was well excited to get out there and cheer for the Boulder boys and Bianca!

Unfortunatly, Brown Bag took home the trophy, with a score of 4-2 but Boulder put up one hell of a fight. With Brendan scoring a super goal in the last few seconds for Boulder. So it was out in town for beers and dancin afterwards. Everybody had such a great time :)

So Long Dave

He is probably going to kill me for this but he deserves it. My good buddy Mr.Dave O Sullivan is leaving Boulder after ten long hard years. He is off to pursue his dreams and fair play to him for taking the plunge. I will miss his moaning terrible....just kidding. Dave has been an inspiration and a great pal both through college and work.
I'll miss you Buddy..... probably see you down the pub on Friday's for a drink and a sneeky smoke (sorry Marn)

Happy 10th Birthday

I am pretty sure it is not exactly on the date but near enough, for the 10 year celebrations of Bouldermedia Animation Studios....Yeahy....whissly, whistle!!! I have been with Boulder 9 of those 10 years and jaysus how time flys. We have a handful of the original crew left Boss Rob Cullen, Paul O'Flanagan, Dave O'Sullivan and Stephen McGann and a good few very talented newbies and not so newbies. Here's to another 10 productive, creative and hair greying years!!!

To think I couldn't even use a computer when I started, Yikes!

We have moved to 6 different offices, travelled to the Emmys in L.A, numerous babies have been born, about a half dozen marraiges and a band was born all in my time here at Boulder. Not to mention all the AMAZING shows we have worked on. Well done Boulder.

Vantastival

Spent the weekend at a music festival in Dunany Estate in Co.Louth. It was called Vantastival where lots of these babies congrigated. I want one oh so very badly! It was run by a couple of mates of mine Benny and Lou, they did a wicked job. Hope to see it back again next year :)

Hemitite Necklace

I used to dabble in making jewellery but vwery, vwery little nowadays. I made this for a friends Mam as a christmas present a few years ago now but it needed a sprucin up cause she wore it so much...which is pretty groovy. So here's the finished, revamped hemitite, pearl, onyx, black swarovski crystal, mish mash necklace.

Right, so there is no undo button when it comes to using ink and paint. But it has been difficult taking myself away from my wacom.....practice, practise, practise and maybe next time I won't end up smudging ink all over the piece , myself and my clothes. It has been far too long since I took out my art materials and got stuck in....I missed it :(

I was sitting at my animation desk back in the college days and a guy says "here you go" and drops this on my desk and walks off. An incredible characature of me!!!! Turns out that guy was nominated for an Oscar for his animated feature, "The Secret of Kells". That guy was Tomm Moore.

A new year a new Gill?

It has been pretty snowy over the last few days. Got stuck on my bus home from work for 5 hours today, for a normal 1 hour journey. Then my wacom broke(it is the grandaddy of wacoms to be fair)....then I panicked, then I fixed it!
Then I drew this. Me and Ben and two randomers.

Jiffy Bag-Monsters

I had alot of pressies to send around the world this week for Christmas cause some of my family live in Australia and then there is another livin in Amsterdam. So instead of the boring aul mustardy brownish yuck colour I decided to jazz up their parcles just a bit with a monster or somethin. My camera is très bad so sorry if the images are crappy.

"Where The Wild Things Are"

I can't frickin wait for this. A very special friend of mine bought me the Maurice Sendak book about a year ago. I couldn't believe I had never heard of it before being a megga huge monster fan. How it slipped under my radar is beyond me but better late than never right? Now Spike Jonze has gotten hold of it and made it into something that looks pretty damn amazing. It gave me goozebumps when I seen the first trailor...seriously!

So "Where The Wild Things Are" is out on the 11th Dec.....exciting times!!!

I have been working on a piece for an age now and it still isn't the way I want it to look so maybe soon enough I'll have a "Where The Wild Things Are" special. I could pop up the line drawing but that would just ruin it....and now I've built it into something bigger than it might ever be, so don't get too excited :)
